CHARTKIT PLOTTER ARM
Weems & Plath
Many plotting boards have
come and gone. It seems they
all have problems. Some are
too small; and some are too big
....for YOUR needs. The Chartkit
Plotter arm solves this problem
by letting you design your own
board. The kit consists of the
pantograph (shown in the pictured
example of the Chartkit
Plotter itself) which can be easily
installed by two screws to any
sized board you wish (the board
shown is not included). It can
also be attached directly to your
navigation table itself.
The principle of the pantograph
is this: the clear rectangular plotter
can be positioned in any direction
by means of the black knob
shown in its center. The parallel arms of the pantograph allow the plotter to be placed anywhere
on the plotting surface without changing its orientation. This means the plotter can be set on a
chart's compass rose, or against a meridian, to determine a course or bearing line. This line can
be transferred to another position on the chart easily. The protractor allows courses to be measured
with respect to meridians, and to compensate for variation when used in conjunction with
the variation scale. It is nominally designed to be installed on a plotting surface of about 23 x 20
inches. Although not critical, a severe departure from these dimensions could result in corner
areas that are not properly served. SW 2 lb The complete Chartkit Plotter with arm is also available.
