STARPATH RADAR TRAINER 3.0
Just in time to help mariners navigate the latest wave in radar technology,
Starpath introduces Radar Trainer 3.O, which improves upon Vers 2.0 by
adding realistic land images in a versatile radar simulator. This
new software program offers many sophisticated new features that will make
navigating through pea soup as easy as duck soup.
As with all simulators, training effectiveness is much greater
than with a real unit because situations can be staged and analyzed.
For targets, you can use the preset demos of typical encounters, use random
targets generated by the program, or set your own targets (course, speed,
range, and bearing).

Now for the first time you can see what it’s like to drive your
boat into a tricky harbor by radar alone. If it doesn’t work the first
time, hit “Repeat” and try again. You won’t have to go to the boat yard
for repairs! These simulations go far beyond Starpath’s popular earlier
versions, first introduced in 1989. In the past decade, computer technology
has developed to such a degree that many new features can now be simulated
realistically. Earlier versions focused on collision avoidance, the version
3.0 trainer now provides interaction with land as well as with moving vessels.
Students can even see the sweep hitting the land in the Chart View window
while they practice real radar navigation in the Radar View window.

Beyond adding land simulations, the new trainer includes printable
charts, an extensive Radar Tutorial, explanation of the Navigation Rules
relating to radar, and animated examples that show simultaneously the radar
screens of two passing vessels. Students can see the movement of the boats
on the radar, as well as an eagle’s view of the scenario taking place on
the water. You don’t need to know anything about radar to get started,
you just need to be motivated. This product is a milestone in the field
of radar simulation. The land simulations are equivalent to those used
in professional radar schools which cost thousands of dollars. Requires
a PC with Windows NT, W-95 or any newer version. SW 1 lb.
