RULESMASTER PRO
Ross Learning Media
This is a comprehensive, highly interactive
CD-ROM learning guide to the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions
at Sea, the US Navigation Rules and Canadian modifications to the Rules. If
you are studying for a commercial mariner's qualification, Captainšs License,
or Yachtmaster or Coastal Skipper, RulesMaster Pro is the easy way to learn
or practice. It's ideal for exam preparation, and is used by leading trainers
worldwide. RulesMaster Pro will engage you with friendly, easy to use tools
that make learning easy and enjoyable.
Lessons: a complete self-paced learning
program. Five lessons cover every Rule, with a quiz following each session.
Progress sequentially, or go directly to a specific subject for review. Lessons
are fully narrated, and include many custom graphics and animations. For instance,
to learn the lights identifying a vessel engaged in trawling, you will hear
the Rules summarized as you read the explanation. Then, to confirm your understanding,
you can drag-and-drop light disks to their correct positions on a three-dimensional
illustration of the trawler, as shown here. RulesMaster's cyberfleet includes
models of each type of vessel. Models rotate through 360 degrees, realistically
simulating the vesselšs appearance from any perspective, so you will know what
to look for and be able to make the right decisions.
Practice To improve understanding
and memory recall, learn by doing. FlashCards and QuickQuiz have powerful "Look
it up" features to guide you to the correct answer whenever you're not sure.
Just click the "Look it up" button to see SummaryCards for the relevant Rule,
or the RuleBook itself. QuickQuiz challenges you with a library of hundreds
of short-answer questions carefully adapted from the US Coast Guard Merchant
Marine Deck Exams. FlashCards contains almost 200 FlashCards, covering the International
Rules and IALA Buoyage. You first begin with only the lights visible, and you
have to select the "Type of Vessel" appropriate to those lights. You are then
presented with more questions relating to the particular scenario, just as in
real life. After you have answered all the questions you will see the answer.
The vessel fades into view, a text explanation is given, and your responses
marked correct or otherwise, and your score updated.
RuleBook: a complete electronic
version of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, the
US Navigation Rules and Canadian modifications to the Rules. Search for a word
or phrase or go to a specific Rule. RuleBook is accessible throughout the program. PCs with Windows 2000/XP/Vista. SW 1 lb.
